Online mind map editors such asMindmeister andBubbl.ushave made editing and sharing of mind maps an easy job. You no longerhave to install any software just in order to view a mind map. Theseservices also enable collaboration between authors.
Mindpin is launched in June2006 by a Beijing based group. It has all the basic features for anonline editor, such as: creating, editing and hosting. It doesn’t havestrong collaborative features like Mindmeister yet, and it’s not ascool as Bubbl.us, but one thing it does right is to make mind maps morereusable.
On the right side of the editing page, there’s a search panel. Youcan search nodes in other people’s public maps with keywords and tags, then drag and drop the results into your editing map. This is a goodfeature that will save you lots of time to reinvent the wheel. It alsohas two view models: figure view and list view. The list view will showall the nodes with their content in a list. I don’t feel this veryuseful for large maps though.
It also has social features like adding others users as friends andgroups. These features have become typical in lots of web2.0 services. But they are not necessary unless you are going to become a promotionplatform like Youtube of mind map. In most cases, users will just useother places such their own blogs to share their maps.
The service lets users to set a map as private, but I have foundthat people can still access the map if they know the correct URL.
