Tibet has been experiencing a brisk real estate market with residents' increasingly higher income and the thriving tourism industry.
Tibet's construction industry's added value came to 10.35 billion yuan (1.52 billion U.S. dollars) in 2009, up 24.9 percent year on year.
"I can earn more with the booming of Lhasa's real estate sector," said Li Li, a property consultant in Lhasa.
Lhasa's first commercial residential community was built in 1996, marking the beginning of real estate business in Tibet. The region's real estate market did not show a sign of prosperity until the end of 2004.
The average disposable per-capita income of local urban residents was only 8,200 yuan in 2004 and the average net income of rural residents was 1,861 yuan. Tibetans could not afford to make housing investment, according to statistics on Tibet's economic and social development.
Li noted that Lhasa has a housing market with huge potential and bright prospects resulting from the policy being pursued by the Central Government to develop the western region.
In the past decade, diverse forms of housing supply have sprung up, including apartments, office buildings, stores, townhouses and fashionable Tibetan-style houses with courtyards.
Despite a latecomer, Tibet's real estate sector has drawn from inland cities on advanced modes and expertise in managing community infrastructure, property, and residential functions. Some communities have now built gas despots and been equipped with intelligent management systems.
