Serratus

Autostitch™ is the world's first fully automatic 2D image stitcher. Capable of stitching full view panoramas without any user input whatsoever,Autostitch is a great new technology for panoramic photography, VR andvisualisation applications. Autostitchis incredibly simple to use! Just select a set of photos, andAutostitch does the rest: digital photos in, panoramas out. Try thefree demo (for Windows):

FAQ

Q: My Autostitch demo expired. What do I do?

A:Weare periodically updating the demo version of Autostitch. Pleasedownload the latest version from this webpage. The latest releaseversion is Autostitch v2.2.

Q: Is there a Linux/Mac version?

A:Thereis no Linux/Mac version of Autostitch as yet, though we hope to releaseversions for these platforms in the future. Autostitch runs under WINE.

Q: Why won't Autostitch read TIFF images?

A:Whilst it would be easy to add TIFF suppport, we have left this out of the demo version.

Q: Why doesn't Autostitch recognise multiple panoramas?

A:This feature is disabled in the demo version

Q: What is a 2D panorama?

A:1D panoramas are made by rotating about a single axis. This is the sortof panorama currently handled by most digital cameras and stitchingsoftware. 2D panoramas involve both horizontal and vertical rotation.

Q: Help! What do all the options in Edit->Options mean?

A:Sorryif the options seem confusing at the moment. This will be improved infuture versions. In the meantime, please see the README.txt filesupplied with the distribution for basic explanations.

Q: How do I get Autostitch to stitch the panorama fullsize?

A:Select Edit->Options then set Output Size to 100%. Then select Stitch->Start.

Q: Does Autostitch support fisheye images?

A:Thedemo version of Autostitch does not explicitly support fisheye images(it assumes that straight lines are preserverd). Having said that, theresults will probably be OK if there is plenty of overlap and not toomuch distortion.

Q: What projection method does Autostitch use? Does it support full view panoramas?

A:Thedemo version of Autostitch uses spherical projection and is capable ofstitching full view 360 x 180 degree panoramas (everything visible froma point). Cylindrical and planar projections are not supported in thedemo version.

Q: Does Autostitch support planar stitching, such as flatbed scans or aerial photographs?

A:Thedemo version of Autostitch assumes that the camera is rotating about apoint, so distortions will be visible when stitching multiple views ofa planar surface. We hope to add planar stitching functionality in thefuture.

Q: What is the format of the 'pano.txt' file output after stitching?

A:Please see the explanation here.
