The renovation of 600-year-old Sera Monastery in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), was kicked off on Sept.11.
Following the principle that the architectures will sustain what they used to be, the renovation is scheduled to be completed in 150 days with 2,523 million yuan out of the total investment of 4,600 million yuan.
The renovation focuses on the main buildings of the Sera Monastery including 3 dratsangs (Buddhist Schools) and 3 kangcun dorms.
Built in 1419 with a history of over 600 years, the Sera Monastery is one of the main monasteries of Yellow sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It has been a destination for a large number of Buddhist pilgrims and believers to offer their prayers.
