A two-day Eco-Forum theming green development opened Friday in Guiyang City, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, to discuss low-carbon economy and share information and technologies in this field.

The forum is helpful to promote public awareness of ecological civilization and facilitate long-term scientific social and economic development, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in a statement to the meeting.

Guiyang is a pilot city in low-carbon economic development in China. It is cooperating with United Nations Development Program's ecological projects and pioneers the country's carbon trading.
