An Application Developer isresponsible for maintaining custom application systems using Agressoproduct suite. Primary duties include performing the full range ofsystems development and maintenance activities for supportedapplications, to participate in new development projects, and to providequality assurance deliverables to developmentteams.                        

Job Responsibilities

The person in this position:

• Writes code and completes programming within established guidelines and standards;
• Develops and implements test plans, as well as sets up and maintains test environments and databases for unit, system, functional, release and acceptance testing;
• Develops and documents custom functionality as well as new functionality in UNIT4 Business Software’s product suite, using the software development platform and tools, conforming to the established development standards and framework;
• Achieves a high level of external and internal satisfaction. This means being customer focused, responsive, doing high quality work, having a positive attitude and being timely in all respects;
• Achieves and maintains a high level of understanding of the UNIT4 Business Software product suite and its underlying development and technological framework;
• Gathers information about new functionality through discussion with team members;
• Reviews user requirements for test requirements;
• Uses UML activity diagrams to document the different test scenarios;
• Tests developed product against test requirements and test scenarios;
• Communicates errors, weaknesses, and user ‘unfriendliness’ problems to the team members for potential fix solutions;
• Creates manual test plans for use in later System Tests;
• Participates in discussions of eventual error solutions and requires documentation of decisions in the appropriate specification.

Skills Required

• 4 year related degree; ideally, Bachelor of Science: Computing Science.
• 4-6 years relevant experience with knowledge of/familiarity with business processes in a variety of sectors, in particular, finance, logistics and/or project management.
• Desirable development experience includes client/server/SOAP, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Visual C++/C#, VB, IIS/ASP, COM, HTML, XML. 
• Knowledge of structured SDLC processes such as analysis, design, technical specification, test plan development, data modeling, OOA/OOD, and Agile are definite assets.
• Technical and business skills to be able to understand the scope and suggested solution for the team task.
• Self starter – ability to teach yourself – or find the answers to your questions.
