Fun Digital Resources to Start the Year

I love searching for digital resources that are not only fun but add tremendous value to the educational environment. In today's world, these digital resources are everywhere. It's not a question of "whether to use" these resources in education, but rather "how to use" these resources.

This blog post is short. It's purpose is to guide you to a few fun websites that can help teachers utilize digital resources to improve learning. It accomplishes this by using a wonderful resource called "Jog The Web." Jog the Web is a web-based tool that allows anyone to create a synchronous guide to a series of websites. To help explain, I've created a new Jog (called a track) that describes four great websites for teachers to explore. Below is a picture of the main page of my track. Go ahead and click on the link to take you to the actual Jog called "Digital Learning Resources - Four Fun Websites." When you get there, just click on the arrow to start jogging. If you made it back here, I hope you had fun exploring my websites. I can think of a bunch of applications for this resource. Teachers and students can create their own web tracks to do many things. The first thing that came to mind for me was to create a scavenger hunt and have students search various websites to answer specific questions. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few examples of what you can do:

* share a list of pages (some use it for instance on YouTube to build a track of related videos)
* group website that you visit every day (he can now simply jog from one page to the next).
* show visitors around a website (for first time visitors or to show all the new products etc…)
* lead visitors to other websites while holding their hand: once the tour is over the visitor is back on the initial website
