Sino-Japanese joint press communique highlights stronger ties

A joint press communique has been released during Premier Wen Jiabao‘s visit. It shows the Chinese and Japanese leaders have reached consensus on building stronger ties.
The press communique was issued after talks between visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The two sides reached consensus on building a strategic, mutually beneficial relationship.
The communique said China and Japan should support each other‘s peaceful development, enhance mutual political trust, and increase the exchange of high-level visits.
According to the press communique, China and Japan plan to strengthen cooperation on both regional and international level.
Both sides reaffirmed their efforts to work together to solve the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue via peaceful means.
Exchanges of high-level visits will be increased and contact and dialogue be strengthened between the governments, parliaments, and political parties of the two countries.
The two sides will increase collaboration in such fields as energy, environmental protection, finance, telecommunications, as well as intellectual property rights.
The two sides will also boost cultural exchanges, and foster friendship between the two peoples through a wide range of programs.
In the communique, the two neighbors reaffirmed their commitment to the principles stated in the three political documents.
Finally, the two countries also made clear their determination to face up to the past, look into the future, and jointly pave the way for a brighter tomorrow for both countries.
